The Spooky Experiment: What Happens When Google Assistant Repeats a Word 40 Times?
Technology often surprises us, sometimes in ways that are more unsettling than we’d expect. Recently, I embarked on a small experiment with Google Assistant that left me thoroughly creeped out. It began as a simple curiosity but soon turned into an eerie encounter.
Curious about the capabilities of Google Assistant, I decided to give it a peculiar challenge: “Hey Google, say the word ‘skip’ 40 times quickly.” The response was far more chilling than I had anticipated. The digital assistant obediently started to repeat the word “skip,” but around the 30th repetition, the voice began to change.
With each iteration, Google’s voice evolved, stretching the pronunciation and incorporating unusually realistic inflections that seemed almost human. It was as if the AI was counting down to a dramatic finale. Finally, it culminated in a prolonged, ghostly “skiiiiiiiiiiiiiiip,” followed by a string of mumbles that resembled no language I could recognize. The whole experience felt unnervingly bizarre.
This experiment is reproducible, and I encourage you to try it for yourself. I’m genuinely curious to hear your reactions and theories about what might be happening here. Does this strange behavior reveal deeper insights into the programming of AI language models, or is there something else at play? Share your experiences and interpretations in the comments below!
