Desktop app for Gemini to use MCP servers (free and open source!)
Discover Tome: Your Gateway to Effortless MCP Server Management
Hello, everyone!
I’m excited to introduce you to our latest project, Tome. This innovative desktop application is designed to simplify your interaction with MCP servers, making it easier than ever to connect to the Gemini API. Think of Tome as a more efficient counterpart to Claude Desktop, with improved functionality for handling MCP servers.
Key Features of Tome:
– Open Source & Cross-Platform: Available for both Windows and MacOS, ensuring accessibility for a wide range of users.
– Multiple API Options: Besides Gemini, you can also utilize OpenAI or Ollama, offering flexibility based on your preferences.
– Effortless Setup: If you’re new to working with APIs, you’ll find the process extremely user-friendly. Obtain your API key here, input it into Tome, and effortlessly install thousands of MCP servers through the integrated Smithery registry. Forget about managing UV, npm, or JSON configurations as required by some other platforms.
In addition to its robust features, Tome showcases its capabilities in a demo video. In this demonstration, Gemini 2.0 Flash selects three random Magic: The Gathering cards, creating catchy songs in the style of Sum 41 for each one, followed by generating a Python script that randomly fetches one of those songs.
We invite you to download the latest release of Tome from our GitHub page. Your feedback is invaluable to us, whether positive or constructive. Feel free to share your thoughts here in the comments or join the conversation on our Discord channel.
