Have you tried using ChatGPT’s Canvas? I find it a bit frustrating myself
Exploring the Limitations of ChatGPT’s Canvas Feature: Is It Worth the Hassle?
Many users have been experimenting with ChatGPT’s Canvas feature, hoping to enhance their interaction experience. However, some find the tool somewhat cumbersome and less intuitive than expected.
The Canvas functionality, while intended to provide a dedicated workspace for ongoing tasks, can sometimes feel like an unnecessary barrier to seamless conversation. Unlike the main chat window, Canvas doesn’t easily allow you to modify or erase previous inputs after the fact. This means that once you’ve set up the Canvas, the AI’s context becomes locked in, and any subsequent edits or corrections to your prompts are not easily reflected, potentially leading to misunderstandings or less accurate responses.
In practical terms, if you’re like me and prefer quick, flexible exchanges, the Canvas can introduce frustration. It complicates the editing process since the model cannot retroactively forget or adjust prior messages within the Canvas — a feature which, if available, could significantly improve user experience.
For those who rely on dynamic, conversational modifications, sticking with the standard chat interface might prove more efficient. The Canvas, in its current form, seems to create more barriers than benefits for interactive, iterative tasks.
