As an avid user of ChatGPT, I’ve recently been exploring the Canvas feature, but I must admit, it has been a source of some frustration. The idea behind Canvas seems promising at first glance, offering a space to organize and visualize content. However, in practice, it often feels like an unnecessary barrier to a smooth conversational flow.

When engaging with ChatGPT through the chat interface itself, I can seamlessly scroll, edit, and refine my prompts without extra steps. But once I introduce Canvas into the mix, things get complicated. After setting up a Canvas, the model struggles to remember or revert changes within it. If I decide to modify a message because I’m dissatisfied with the output, the Canvas’s presence can interfere with that process, effectively poisoning the context and complicating the conversation.

For users who prefer a fluid chat experience, Canvas can sometimes feel like more trouble than it’s worth. It’s important for developers to consider how such features integrate into the core user interaction—making adjustments to enhance flexibility could greatly improve overall satisfaction.
