What’s your opinion about writing books with the help of AI?

The Role of AI in Collaborative Bookwriting: A Thoughtful Perspective

In the evolving landscape of creative writing, the integration of Artificial Intelligence has sparked both curiosity and debate. I’m interested in hearing your thoughts on utilizing AI to assist in the process of authoring books.

To clarify, I’m not referring to generating entire novels from a simple prompt. Instead, my approach involves writing the core narrative independently and using AI as a supplementary tool. For example, I might craft the basic descriptions of locations, movements, or features myself, but later enhance these sections with richer vocabulary and additional sentences generated with AI assistance. The goal is to preserve my own voice and effort while leveraging AI to improve descriptive detail and linguistic variety.

As someone for whom English is not a native language—despite years of reading and a reasonable command—I sometimes find complex vocabulary and stylistic techniques like “show, don’t tell” challenging. While I don’t advocate relying on AI indefinitely, I believe it can be a valuable resource during the learning and drafting process. It can help me elevate my writing until I reach a point where I can articulate my ideas more confidently and naturally.

What are your views on incorporating AI into the book-writing process? Do you see it as a helpful tool, or are there ethical or creative concerns to consider? I’d love to hear your insights.
