My experience with AI for editing my website’s content has surpassed my expectations

Harnessing AI for SEO and Content Enhancement: My Week-by-Week Journey

In recent months, I embarked on a journey to leverage artificial intelligence tools to revitalize a dormant website—a decision driven more by curiosity than confidence. As someone initially skeptical about the true potential of AI, I was surprised by the tangible results that unfolded during this experiment. Here’s a detailed account of my experience with AI-assisted SEO and content creation within a three-month timeframe.

Background and Initial Setup

The website in question is a four-year-old domain representing my corporate venture. However, the site had minimal activity, comprising only a handful of pages such as “About Us,” along with five blog posts. Despite the company’s name being search-friendly, the website barely ranked beyond the second or third page on Google. Recognizing this, I opted to experiment with AI tools—specifically ChatGPT and DeepSeek—to perform basic SEO adjustments and content development. My approach was organic: I didn’t copy existing articles verbatim but used notes and outlines from my app to seed the AI-generated content.

Planning and Strategy

I devised a three-month content roadmap, detailing target articles, keywords, and publishing schedules. Initial planning involved tweaking the list of topics, refining keywords, assigning categories, and setting publication dates. This iterative process helped me build a comprehensive content calendar and workflow, making the task manageable despite initial uncertainties.

Content Creation Challenges and Learnings

The early phase of content production was a learning curve. Neither I nor the AI knew exactly what to expect, leading to some unpolished outputs—such as 3000+ word requests resulting in much shorter, less professional articles. Over time, I learned how to guide AI more effectively, instructing it to produce 1000+ word articles aligned with a professional and corporate tone. By the week’s end, I had a robust collection of website articles—both new and repurposed from my notes—aligned with my planned schedule for the upcoming three months.

Monitoring Progress: Indexing and Rankings

Within the first 15 days, the website began to be indexed by major search engines. Initially, there was little change on Google, but Yandex and Bing showed early movement. At about 30 days, the site ranked first in the company’s name on both Bing and Yandex and appeared on the first page of Google. Although the rankings on Google were modest—somewhere between the 5th and 10th pages—these were encouraging signs of progress.
