Since AI models are trained using Reddit data, do you think someone has already become a “shittymorph” by this point?
Exploring AI’s Exposure to Reddit Culture: Has It Encountered ‘Shittymorph’ Lingo?
As artificial intelligence models increasingly harness data from platforms like Reddit for training, a compelling question arises: Have these models been exposed to the more niche, meme-heavy terminologies of Reddit communities? Specifically, could an AI recognize or even generate responses in the distinctive “Shittymorph” style—a popular Reddit meme that transforms words into humorous, distorted forms?
Motivated by curiosity, I decided to test this theory by engaging with Google’s Gemini AI. I asked it to respond in the “Shittymorph” style, curious to see if it could understand and mimic this unique linguistic trend. The results were quite intriguing; the AI did not disappoint, demonstrating a surprising grasp of the meme’s patterns.
This experiment highlights an interesting aspect of AI training: how much of Reddit’s rich, diverse subculture it truly understands. By exploring more obscure Reddit lore and slang, we might better gauge the depth of these models’ cultural awareness.
What are your thoughts? Are there other Reddit phenomena or niche memes you’d be curious to see if AI can recognize or replicate? Share your ideas and let’s delve into the fascinating intersection of AI, internet culture, and language.
