How AI-Powered Content Editing Surpassed My Expectations for My Website

Harnessing AI for SEO and Content Refinement: My Experience Improving a Dormant WordPress Site

Over recent months, I’ve explored the potential of artificial intelligence tools to enhance my website’s content and SEO performance—and the results have exceeded my expectations.

Initially, I was quite skeptical about AI’s capabilities in the realm of website optimization. However, given the limited visibility of my site—an aging domain that had been largely inactive for over a year—I decided to experiment with AI-powered content and SEO adjustments. The website, a simple WordPress setup for my corporate venture, had only a few pages like “About Us” and a handful of blog posts. Despite having a recognizable company name, it barely ranked beyond the second or third pages on Google.

My goal was modest: to see how AI could assist in reviving its search engine presence. I selected tools like ChatGPT and DeepSeek for SEO suggestions and content creation, ensuring I didn’t simply copy and paste; instead, I used the AI to generate original content inspired by my notes and existing articles. Throughout the process, I maintained a passive approach—relying solely on my Instagram account for outreach and avoiding social media promotion to keep the experiment genuine.

I began with a three-month content roadmap, detailing publication schedules, target keywords, and relevant topics. After fine-tuning this plan over a couple of hours as insights emerged, I organized my content list with specific details such as the focus topics, keywords, categories, and publishing dates.

The initial content creation phase was challenging. Both I and the AI struggled to produce high-quality articles. Early attempts resulted in short, unprofessional pieces that did not meet my standards. However, by learning how to guide the AI—requesting longer, more detailed articles in a professional, corporate tone—I gradually improved the quality. Within a week, I had assembled a portfolio of articles aligned with my notes, scheduled for publication over three months.

Once published, I monitored the website’s indexing and ranking progress using major webmaster tools. Within fifteen days, the site was indexed, with notable movement on Bing and Yandex for my company name. By the one-month mark, the website ranked first for my brand name on both Bing and Yandex, and appeared on the first page of Google—remarkable considering the site had no backlinks or advertising efforts.

Throughout the following months, I observed fluctuations—initial declines in search rankings followed by steady recovery and growth. Around the third month, I achieved top positions on Bing
