My Experience with AI-Enhanced Content Revision: Surpassing My Expectations
Harnessing AI to Revitalize a Dormant Website: A Case Study in SEO and Content Strategy
Over the past few months, I’ve experimented with integrating artificial intelligence into my website’s content management and SEO efforts, and the results have exceeded my expectations.
As someone initially skeptical about AI’s capabilities, I decided to give it a try—specifically focusing on minor SEO adjustments and content creation—to see if it could make a tangible difference. The website in question is a four-year-old domain, although it’s only been active for about a year. It’s a straightforward WordPress site representing a corporate entity I founded, but it had been largely inactive from the start, featuring just a few basic pages like “About Us,” along with five blog articles. Despite searching for the company’s name, it barely ranked beyond Google’s second or third page. I thought, “What’s the worst that could happen?” and proceeded with AI tools to enhance SEO and generate content.
I employed ChatGPT and DeepSeek for this initiative. Importantly, I never simply copied and pasted content; instead, I provided notes and guidelines to seed my ideas, complemented by a few pre-written articles and a list of topics I wanted to develop. This project was a low-key trial—I didn’t leverage social media or external promotion, relying solely on my modest Instagram account.
Developing a Clear Roadmap
My initial plan involved outlining a three-month content roadmap, detailing the number of articles, target keywords, and themes. After about two hours of tweaking and refining this plan, I had a solid foundation. I then compiled a list that included article topics, keywords, categories, and scheduling dates—creating an actionable content calendar to keep the project on track.
Content Creation: The Learning Curve
The early stages of content creation were somewhat chaotic. Neither I nor the AI had a clear picture of what was needed, which led to some underwhelming outputs. For example, instructing the AI to write a 3,000+ word professional article resulted in a 400-word draft that lacked polish. Through trial and error, I learned how to instruct the AI to produce more comprehensive, industry-aligned, and professionally written content—aiming for articles over 1,000 words with a corporate tone.
By the end of the first week, I had assembled a full complement of articles—both those generated by AI and my own writings—that aligned with my planned publishing schedule. I used existing tools like Google Search Console and Google
