Navigating Job Transition as an SEO Specialist: Seeking Guidance
As an SEO Specialist and Social Media Marketer with nearly two years of experience, I find myself at a pivotal juncture. Due to my company’s impending closure, I am confronting the reality of job loss and the uncertainty that accompanies it.
My current CTC is ₹25,000. However, my concern lies in my lack of confidence in presenting this figure to potential employers. Despite holding the title for two years, I feel my practical experience amounts to only four to six months. My contributions have been limited; I managed two websites for SEO, with one achieving a rank of 3rd or 4th for a specific keyword in search engine results. Additionally, I successfully grew a social media account by approximately 300 followers in three months. Yet, I acknowledge my theoretical knowledge far exceeds my practical application.
This situation leaves me feeling uneasy about my marketability. If I present my current CTC to a new employer and fail to demonstrate the corresponding competency, I fear I may find myself in a similar predicament again.
My question is: should I aim to secure a position at my current salary, even if it means stepping into a role that I am not fully confident in just yet? Or is it wiser to seek opportunities that allow me to expand my skills and knowledge base, even if it requires me to position myself differently during the job hunt?
I welcome any insights or suggestions from those who have navigated a similar path. Your experiences could greatly influence my approach to this transitional period.
