Introducing VantaAI: My Journey to Creating a Local AI Assistant with Emotional Intelligence

I am thrilled to share my latest development project—an offline AI assistant aptly named VantaAI. Inspired by the capabilities of advanced AI like ChatGPT, I aspire to create a tool that not only interacts intelligently but also embodies emotional understanding and memory, mirroring human-like attributes.

What Makes VantaAI Special?

My goal with VantaAI is to craft a personal assistant that goes beyond standard interactions by integrating:

• Long-Term Memory: VantaAI evolves its understanding and recollection based on prior conversations, allowing for a more personalized experience tailored to each user.

• Mood Tracking: A dynamic mood graph helps monitor and visualize how VantaAI’s emotional state fluctuates over time, creating a nuanced interaction that feels relatable.

• Narrative-Driven Memory: By framing herself as the “main character” in her own narrative, VantaAI clusters her memories in a way that enriches storytelling and contextual responses.

• User-Friendly Interface: I have developed a PySide6 graphical user interface that features various tabs for managing memory, training, emotional conditions, and plugins, making it easy for users to navigate her capabilities.

On a technical note, VantaAI harnesses a custom Vulkan backend for efficient model inference and training processes. She is capable of generating personality-driven responses and supports live hot-reloading for plugins.
