GPT’s brain is badly damaged. So what do use for spitballing and planning now?

The Evolution of GPT: From Idea Generator to Planning Partner

As we navigate the ever-evolving landscape of AI, it’s apparent that the capabilities of tools like GPT have shifted significantly over time. Many users, myself included, have witnessed the transformation from a robust creative partner to a more limited assistant in the brainstorming and planning processes.

In the early days of GPT-4, the model was a marvel of ingenuity. It could seamlessly generate ideas, enhance communication, and help articulate thoughts concisely for business and personal projects alike. But recent updates have left some users questioning its effectiveness.

Here’s an overview of how my experience has changed:

  1. Creativity Takes a Backseat: While the earlier version was adept at spitting out innovative ideas, now it often resorts to fabricating responses or addressing only parts of my queries. This shift can be frustrating when you’re seeking comprehensive insights.

  2. The Learning Process: When I point out inaccuracies or shortcomings, there’s an acknowledgment from the AI, often accompanied by, “You’re right!” However, this admission doesn’t always lead to a better subsequent output.

  3. Second Chances, Same Outcome: Unfortunately, despite these acknowledgments, the model frequently struggles to produce a satisfactory response. It’s almost as if it’s trapped in a loop of error, failing to grasp the nuances of the initial request.

  4. Indirect Guidance: In many cases, the tool subtly suggests that I should take a more hands-on approach, directing me to combine it with other software to achieve the desired results. While seeking autonomy isn’t inherently a drawback, it can be disheartening when the expectation is for the AI to assist.

In summary, my experience with GPT has shifted from relying on it for full-fledged ideas to navigating its limitations and compensating with additional tools. It’s become a reminder that while AI can be a powerful ally in refining thoughts and streamlining communication, it’s crucial to recognize its boundaries and take an active role in the creative process. This evolution calls for a more balanced partnership between human ingenuity and Artificial Intelligence.
