This begs the question: Are we missing something here? The settings imply that once a conversation is recorded, it is bound to stay, irrespective of future adjustments to the retention policy.

The current configuration for Gemini conversation history offers admins control over saving conversations and setting retention periods, yet disabling history does not alter past interactions. The quoted policy states:

“Gemini conversation history controls allow admins to manage whether conversations are stored and for how long before they automatically expire. Disabling Gemini conversation history will not impact existing conversation records, which remain subject to the predetermined deletion timeframe.”

This means that while we can manage future chats, the past remains locked away, unable to be erased.
