In today’s fast-paced work environment, staying organized and meeting deadlines can be a constant challenge, especially in roles with high volumes of emails, follow-ups, tasks, and meetings. Many professionals are turning to technological solutions to streamline their workflows and improve efficiency. Recently, I incorporated AI tools such as ChatGPT to help manage my daily responsibilities within a mid-sized company’s operations team.

Since adopting these tools, I’ve experienced notable benefits. They assist by analyzing my notes, organizing tasks, drafting responses, and creating daily plans with follow-up reminders. This approach has allowed me to stay on top of my workload, reduce stress, and consistently submit quality work on schedule.

However, this positive change has not been without its complications. My supervisor, who appears to hold reservations about AI’s role in the workplace, approached me to express concern. He suggested that relying on AI might be making the team “look bad” and emphasized that “real work takes time.” His perspective seemed rooted in a traditional view of productivity, emphasizing manual effort and effort-based stress.

The situation has created an awkward dynamic. My boss’s response implies that utilizing AI tools equates to cutting corners, despite the fact that I view it as an efficient way to manage responsibilities. From my standpoint, this isn’t about outsourcing my duties; it’s about leveraging available technology to work smarter, not harder. Why shouldn’t technology be used to enhance performance and reduce unnecessary strain?
