My manager suspects I’m cheating because I rely on AI to manage my workload

Harnessing AI to Boost Productivity: A Workplace Perspective

In the fast-paced environment of a mid-sized company, managing a flood of emails, follow-ups, tasks, and meetings can become overwhelming. Many professionals find themselves struggling to stay organized and meet deadlines, often feeling like they’re drowning in workload.

Recently, I turned to artificial intelligence tools such as ChatGPT and other support apps to help streamline my day. By integrating these technologies, I was able to consolidate notes, prioritize tasks, compose follow-up reminders, and craft a daily workflow plan.

The results were remarkable. My efficiency increased, stress levels decreased, and I consistently met deadlines—no longer forgetting important details or spiraling into chaos.

However, this approach was met with criticism from my supervisor, who holds a skeptical view of AI assistance. He expressed concerns that relying on such tools was “making the team look bad” and emphasized that “real work takes time.” This reaction has created an uncomfortable atmosphere, with my boss viewing my use of AI as a form of shortcut or dishonesty.

From my perspective, employing technology to enhance productivity is not outsourcing or cheating—it’s a smarter way to work. In fact, leveraging AI supports efficiency and enables us to focus on higher-value tasks that require human insight and creativity.

In today’s digital age, intelligent tools should be embraced as allies in our professional routines. They’re not replacing effort—they’re optimizing it—allowing us to operate more effectively and with greater confidence.
