Have you tried ChatGPT’s Canvas feature? I find it a bit frustrating sometimes—here’s my experience.

Title: Navigating the Challenges of ChatGPT’s Canvas Feature

Are you utilizing the Canvas feature in ChatGPT? If so, you might have encountered some frustrations similar to mine. While the Canvas tool promises to enhance interactions, it can sometimes feel like an obstacle rather than an aid.

From my experience, integrating Canvas into steady conversations has its drawbacks. When you activate Canvas, it essentially creates a fixed visual layer that the model considers part of the ongoing context. If you decide later that you want to modify your original request or correct an earlier output, the presence of the Canvas can complicate things. The model cannot simply “forget” or “undo” the Canvas once it’s set, which often leads to context pollution and hampers the flexibility needed for effective conversations.

Given that these interactions primarily happen within chat, it raises an important question: Why use Canvas at all? If the primary goal is seamless, mutable exchanges, the Canvas feature might inadvertently introduce more barriers than benefits. It’s worth exploring alternative approaches or workflows that allow for cleaner, more adaptable interactions without the constraints of a visual overlay.
