What’s your opinion about writing books with the help of AI?

Exploring the Role of AI in Creative Writing: A Balanced Perspective

In recent years, Artificial Intelligence has begun transforming various creative fields, including writing. This raises an important question: what are your thoughts on leveraging AI assistance when crafting a book?

To clarify my perspective, I am not suggesting using AI to generate entire novels from a simple prompt. Instead, I advocate for a collaborative approach—authors craft their stories independently, but utilize AI tools to refine their descriptions of settings, character movements, and narrative features. This could involve writing the initial descriptions manually, then employing AI to enhance vocabulary, enrich sentences, or add nuanced details.

Would such a hybrid writing process trigger concerns about AI authorship? Would these contributions be considered “original,” or would they be flagged as AI-generated content?

For myself, as a non-native English speaker with years of reading and proficiency, I often find expressing complex ideas challenging—particularly when it comes to employing sophisticated vocabulary or mastering the art of “show, don’t tell.” I believe that using AI in this manner can serve as a helpful stepping stone, aiding writers in developing their language skills over time. Of course, I wouldn’t advocate relying solely on AI; instead, it should be a supplementary tool during the writing journey.

What’s your perspective on integrating AI into the creative writing process? Do you see it as a valuable aid, a threat to authenticity, or perhaps a bit of both? Share your thoughts below.
