Considering AI models trained on Reddit data, has anyone by now experienced being shittymorph’ed?
Exploring AI Knowledge Through Reddit’s Hidden Lore: Are Models Still in the Dark?
As artificial intelligence systems continue to evolve, they’re being trained on a vast array of online content, including user-generated platforms like Reddit. This widespread data intake raises an intriguing question: has anyone, somewhere within the digital realm, experienced the quirks or unpredictable behaviors—what some might call being “shittymorphed”—when interacting with AI trained on Reddit data?
Motivated by this curiosity, I decided to test whether modern AI models, such as Google’s Gemini, are aware of or can replicate these niche Reddit behaviors. I asked Gemini to respond in the style characteristic of “shittymorph” comments—a well-known meme that reflects particular community humor and slang. The response? It did not disappoint.
This experiment opens up broader avenues for exploring the depth of AI understanding regarding obscure internet subcultures. If models can recognize and emulate these nuances, it would suggest a sophisticated level of knowledge, but if not, it highlights areas where AI comprehension remains limited.
Do you have ideas or strategies for probing the extent of AI awareness of Reddit’s more obscure lore? Sharing insights could help us better understand the boundaries of current models’ knowledge and perhaps guide future training efforts.
