As Artificial Intelligence models continue to evolve, many are curious about the sources of their training data and how well they understand internet culture. Given that some of these models have been trained on vast amounts of Reddit content, one might wonder: has anyone, somewhere in the digital landscape, experienced the infamous “shittymorph” style?
This curiosity prompted me to test a popular AI model—Google’s Gemini—to see if it recognizes and responds appropriately to prompts in that particular tone. To my delight, the model did not disappoint, showcasing a surprising familiarity with the Reddit-specific slang and style.
This experiment raises an interesting question: To what extent do these AI models truly understand and internalize the more obscure corners of Reddit lore? By exploring these niche references, we might better gauge the depth of their knowledge, revealing both their strengths and limitations.
