With the AI models being trained using Reddit data, do you think by now someone somewhere would have gotten shittymorph’ed?

Exploring AI Knowledge Through Reddit’s Hidden Lore

As Artificial Intelligence systems increasingly draw from platforms like Reddit during their training, a pressing question arises: Have any models been inadvertently exposed to the platform’s most obscure or controversial content? Specifically, could AI like ChatGPT or similar models have encountered and learned from the notorious “ShittyMorph” style comments that are prevalent in certain Reddit communities?

This curiosity led me to test how well these models understand Reddit-specific slang and meme cultures. I recently prompted an AI model to generate a response in the “ShittyMorph” style, and the results did not disappoint—highlighting the model’s ability to recognize and mimic niche online subcultures.

But this experiment also opens an intriguing avenue: by exploring even more obscure Reddit lore and unique comment styles, can we better gauge the depth of these models’ knowledge? Understanding the range and limits of AI exposure to internet subcultures not only informs us about their capabilities but also about the breadth of data they’ve been trained on.
