Let me clarify my perspective: I’m not suggesting that AI generate entire novels from a short prompt—that approach can sometimes lead to formulaic or inauthentic results. Instead, I see AI as a complementary tool for writers who prefer to craft their stories manually but seek assistance with enriching their descriptions. For example, a writer might compose the core scene and then use AI to help expand descriptions of settings, movements, or features, enhancing vocabulary and adding nuanced sentences. The key is that the creative effort remains primarily human-driven, with AI serving as a sophisticated editor or enhancer.
Would a book assembled in this manner be flagged or classified as AI-generated? That’s an intriguing question. As someone for whom English is a second language, I often find myself challenged by complex vocabulary and the principles of “show, don’t tell.” Despite years of reading English literature and gaining proficiency, I sometimes struggle with conveying my ideas vividly and naturally. Using AI in this way could potentially smooth out language issues while still preserving my voice and intent.
Of course, I don’t advocate relying solely on AI—especially not in the long term—until I feel confident enough to express myself seamlessly without assistance. But as a stepping stone, it can be a valuable tool to develop skills and improve storytelling quality.
