My experience with AI-powered content revision has exceeded my expectations for my website
Harnessing AI for SEO and Content Optimization: A Personal Journey with WordPress
Over the past few months, I’ve been experimenting with artificial intelligence tools to enhance my website’s content and SEO performance. To my surprise, the results have exceeded my expectations, prompting me to share this experience with fellow developers, marketers, and website owners.
Initially skeptical about the practicality of AI in content management, I decided to give it a try by focusing on simple SEO improvements and content generation. The website I worked on is a four-year-old domain that’s been inactive for most of its lifespan, with minimal content—just some basic pages like “About Us” and a handful of blog articles. Despite being around, it hardly showed up on Google’s search results—usually landing on the second or third page even when searching for the company’s name.
Seeing this limited visibility, I thought, “What’s the worst that can happen?” I opted to incorporate AI tools such as ChatGPT and DeepSeek into my process. Importantly, I did not simply copy and paste AI-generated content; instead, I used these tools to assist with rewriting and refining my existing notes and outlines. I had some pre-written articles and specific topics I wanted to target, and I kept my efforts low-key, using only my personal Instagram account to document the process.
My initial plan was to develop a three-month roadmap for content publication—defining how many articles to publish, selecting target keywords, and outlining relevant topics. Within a couple of hours, I refined this plan, adjusting as I proceeded. I created a detailed content schedule that included topics, keywords, categories, and publishing dates.
Content creation was initially chaotic. Both I and the AI was unsure of what I wanted. For example, instructing the AI to produce a 3,000+ word article often resulted in a short, unprofessional piece of 400 words. However, I quickly learned how to communicate effectively with the AI—guiding it to generate more comprehensive, industry-appropriate, and professionally styled articles. By the end of the first week, I had assembled all the content needed for the website’s upcoming quarter, timing posts according to my schedule.
Tracking analytics and indexing progress, I observed some promising developments. Within just 15 days, search engines like Yandex and Bing started showing activity around my brand name, even though Google had yet to register significant changes. By the 30-day mark, my site ranked number one for the company name on both Bing
