My experience with AI in editing my website content has exceeded my expectations.
Harnessing AI for SEO: A Personal Journey of Website Revitalization
Over recent months, I’ve been experimenting with AI-powered tools to enhance my website’s content and SEO performance. As someone initially skeptical about the true value of AI in digital marketing, I was surprised by the tangible results these tools delivered—exceeding my expectations and providing valuable insights into the potential of AI-assisted optimization.
Background and Starting Point
My project involved a four-year-old domain that had been inactive for most of its lifespan. The website, a simple WordPress setup for a corporate brand I founded, was largely dormant, containing only a handful of pages such as “About Us” and five blog articles. Despite the presence of these pages and a recognizable company name, it struggled to rank beyond the second or third page of Google search results. Curious about how AI could influence this situation, I decided to test its capabilities for basic SEO enhancements and content generation.
Tools and Strategy
My initial approach centered around using ChatGPT and DeepSeek. I avoided directly copying existing content; instead, I relied on my notes and previously written articles as seeds for creative input. As a minimalist experiment, I limited my outreach to my Instagram account, avoiding other social media platforms, to observe organic growth.
I mapped out a three-month content strategy, outlining publication schedules, target keywords, and relevant topics. After fine-tuning this roadmap over a couple of hours, I compiled a list of blog topics, associated keywords, categories, and publication timings. This systematic planning laid the foundation for consistent content creation and SEO refinement.
Content Development Insights
The first phase of content creation was challenging. Neither I nor the AI initially knew exactly what was needed. For example, instructing the AI to produce a lengthy article—say, over 3,000 words—sometimes resulted in underwhelming, poorly structured content of only a few hundred words. Through trial and error, I learned how to guide the AI more effectively—requesting comprehensive articles with professional tone, industry-specific language, and optimal keyword placement. Over the course of a week, I successfully generated or adapted all the articles planned for the initial three months, aligning them with my notes and keyword strategy.
Monitoring and Results
Once the content was published, I began tracking the website’s performance via webmaster tools and analytics. Within fifteen days, the site started to get indexed, and I observed movement in search engine results—especially on Yandex and Bing—regarding the company’s name.
