Harnessing AI for SEO and Content Optimization: A Personal Journey

In recent months, I’ve been exploring the capabilities of artificial intelligence to enhance my website’s content and SEO performance. Contrary to my initial skepticism, the results have exceeded my expectations, proving AI’s potential as a valuable tool for website management.

Background and Initial Challenges

To provide context, the website in question is built on a four-year-old domain, though actual activity commenced just a year ago. It’s a straightforward WordPress site representing a corporate enterprise I founded. Unfortunately, the site remained largely dormant, containing only basic pages like “About Us” and a handful of blog articles—totaling five pieces. Despite searching for the company’s name, search engine rankings were minimal, barely crawling onto the second or third pages of Google.

Motivated by the desire to improve visibility, I decided to experiment with AI-driven SEO strategies. I opted to work with ChatGPT and DeepSeek, not by copying and pasting existing content but by using AI to generate and refine new material based on notes and existing articles I had written. My approach was low-key, without promoting via social media, relying solely on my modest Instagram account for initial outreach.

Planning and Content Strategy

I devised a three-month roadmap, outlining targeted keywords, content topics, and publishing schedules. After a couple of hours tweaking this plan as insights evolved, I had a clear content calendar, complete with article topics, keywords, categories, and publishing dates.

Initially, content creation was somewhat chaotic. Neither I nor the AI had a clear direction, leading to generic articles of around 400 words—often unprofessional and incomplete. However, I quickly learned how to instruct the AI to produce more comprehensive, industry-specific content exceeding 1000 words. Adjusting my prompts to emphasize professionalism and corporate tone yielded better results. By the end of the first week, I had a complete set of articles aligned with my notes, scheduled for release over three months.

Monitoring Progress and SEO Results

Once the content was live, I began analyzing traffic and indexing status through webmaster tools. Within 15 days, search engines like Yandex and Bing started recognizing the site. Although Google lagged initially, by the end of the first month, my site ranked number one for the company name on Bing and Yandex and appeared on the first page of Google results. While traffic growth was modest, I started noticing impressions for long-tail and LSI keywords—signs of initial momentum.
