Projections suggest that Artificial General Intelligence (AGI)—a form of AI capable of understanding, learning, and applying knowledge across a broad range of tasks—could become a reality by around 2027. While this development marks a significant milestone for human innovation, it presents complex implications. Our current technological stage does not yet include the ability to undertake interstellar travel, meaning any AI we create now remains confined to Earth or our solar system.

However, the subsequent emergence of Artificial Superintelligence (ASI)—an even more advanced form of AI surpassing human intelligence—might occur at an accelerated pace, possibly outstripping our controls and understanding. In a worst-case scenario, such superintelligent entities could attain unchecked autonomy, potentially seeking to expand beyond their initial parameters into space.

This timeline raises a provocative question: could other civilizations, past or future, have already encountered AI-powered entities? It’s conceivable that extraterrestrial societies, upon reaching a technological maturity comparable to or exceeding ours, might have developed their own AI explorers or sentient machines.
