How AI-Powered Content Editing Transformed My Website Beyond My Expectations

Harnessing AI for SEO and Content Enhancement: My Experience with a Dormant WordPress Site

In recent months, I embarked on an experiment to improve a neglected WordPress website using artificial intelligence tools. Initially skeptical about AI’s capabilities, I was surprised to see how effectively it could assist in revitalizing a dormant online presence.

Background and Approach

The website in question was a five-year-old domain, primarily built for a corporate business I founded. However, it had remained largely untouched since its launch, featuring only basic pages like “About Us” and a handful of blog articles—just five in total. Despite having a recognizable company name, search engine visibility was minimal, often relegated to the second or third Google results page. With little to lose, I decided to test AI-driven SEO strategies, focusing exclusively on content creation and on-site optimization, without engaging in social media promotion or link-building efforts.

Tools and Strategy

I chose ChatGPT and DeepSeek as my primary AI tools. My initial goal was to develop a clear three-month content roadmap: identify target keywords, outline topics, schedule publishing dates, and categorize articles appropriately. While the process involved continuous tweaks and adjustments—since both the AI and I were learning to communicate effectively—the foundational plan quickly became actionable.

Content Development and Optimization

Creating content was initially chaotic. Neither myself nor the AI had a precise idea of the desired tone or depth. For example, instructing the AI to generate a 3,000-word article resulted in a much shorter, less professional piece. Over time, I learned how to instruct the AI to produce more comprehensive, industry-standard articles with appropriate corporate tone and keyword placement. By the end of the first week, I had assembled all planned articles—both those I authored and those generated by AI—ready for publication.

Monitoring and Results

Once the content was scheduled, I began monitoring the website’s performance through webmaster tools and analytics. Within two weeks, the site started to be indexed by major search engines, with Bing and Yandex showing signs of movement earlier than Google. After a month, the site ranked first on Bing and Yandex for my brand name, and keywords started to appear on the first page of Google. Although initial traffic was modest, I noticed an increase in ranking for Latent Semantic Indexing (LSI) and long-tail keywords, indicating the beginning of organic growth.

Progress Over Three Months

By the end of three months, the results were promising. The website ranked first on Bing
