How AI-Powered Content Editing Elevated My Website Beyond My Expectations
Harnessing AI for SEO: My Experience Revamping a Dormant Website
In recent months, I embarked on a journey to enhance my website’s visibility using artificial intelligence tools—an approach I once doubted. The results, however, surpassed my expectations, demonstrating the potential of AI in content optimization and SEO strategy.
Background and Initial Setup
The website in question is a four-year-old domain associated with a company I founded. Although it had been live for a year, it remained largely inactive—featuring only a handful of pages such as “About Us” and a few blog posts. Despite containing five articles, the site struggled to rank beyond the second or third page on Google, even when searching for the company’s name.
Deciding to experiment, I opted to implement AI-driven SEO adjustments and content creation. I chose tools like ChatGPT and DeepSeek, deliberately avoiding direct copy-pasting. Instead, I utilized my own notes and existing articles as foundations, with plans to generate new content aligned with targeted keywords and topics. Throughout this process, I kept the promotion minimal, relying solely on my modest Instagram account.
Strategic Planning and Content Development
I initially mapped out a three-month roadmap, detailing publishing schedules, keyword targeting, and content themes. As I refined this plan—adjusting topics, deadlines, and priorities—I assembled a comprehensive content calendar listing topics, keywords, categories, and publication dates.
Creating content was initially chaotic. Neither myself nor the AI had a clear direction, leading to short or unprofessional articles when requesting longer pieces. Recognizing this, I learned to instruct the AI more effectively—emphasizing the desired tone, industry-specific professionalism, and word count. By the end of the first week, I had a solid set of articles aligning with my notes, ready for publication over the coming months.
Monitoring Progress and SEO Results
Once the website was integrated with essential webmaster tools, I began tracking its performance. After just 15 days, the site started to be indexed, with Yandex and Bing showing signs of movement for my company name. Within a month, the site ranked first on these platforms for that term, and was appearing on the first page of Google, albeit in the lower positions. This initial progress was promising, especially considering the minimal efforts involved—no backlinks, no advertising, just content.
During the second month, visibility fluctuated—initial drops in ranking were followed by recovery and even improved positioning. Around the third month, I observed more tangible results:
