Given that AI models are trained on Reddit data, do you think someone, somewhere, has already experienced being shittymorph’ed by now?
Exploring AI’s Knowledge of Reddit Culture: Are Language Models Familiar with Meme-Worthy Slang?
In recent times, many AI language models have been trained on vast datasets that include discussions and content from platforms like Reddit. Given this exposure, a question arises: has any AI model been “shittymorph’ed”—that is, has it adopted or learned the distinct slang and humor style often found in Reddit’s meme culture?
This curiosity prompted me to test whether current AI models can recognize and replicate Reddit-specific humor styles. For instance, I prompted Gemini, an advanced language model, to respond in the style characteristic of “shittymorph” comments—a style known for its exaggerated, humorous, and often edgy tone.
The results were quite revealing, showing that these models do display some understanding of the meme’s stylistic elements. However, to better gauge their depth of knowledge, it might be worth exploring less mainstream Reddit lore and niche communities. By doing so, we could assess just how much of Reddit’s rich and diverse humor culture these AI models have internalized.
