The current state of AI development exemplifies the saying “Garbage In, Garbage Out.” Massive amounts of data are fed into these systems under the assumption that more input equates to better, more refined outputs. Yet, simply enlarging data sets filled with inaccuracies or irrelevant information doesn’t inherently improve AI performance or its ability to discern truth from falsehood. Quality, not just quantity, remains paramount.

If true intelligence were the goal behind artificial intelligence, we would expect the process to involve top-tier thinkers, visionary engineers, and experts renowned for their intellectual contributions—rather than investments driven by low-cost labor and the narrow interests of the ultra-wealthy at the helm.

Consider the example of Grok, a project associated with Elon Musk. While Musk has established himself as an innovative entrepreneur, doubts arise about whether his ventures are rooted in genuine scientific advancement or serve as persuasive tools for marketing and speculation. Should society look up to figures like him as the ultimate sources of guidance for future generations?

From my perspective, there seems to be a lack of rigorous, thoughtful planning in the way AI is being pushed forward. Most decisions appear to serve the interests of the elite, who see automation as a means to erase human roles—regardless of the long-term consequences. Meanwhile, some policymakers are complicit, accepting financial incentives that delay regulation and oversight, effectively allowing unchecked development of AI technologies for years to come.

Historically, the United States experienced economic decline by outsourcing manufacturing to exploit cheap labor markets, leading to widespread hollowing out of domestic industry. Today, a similar pattern seems to be emerging on a global scale, with artificial intelligence poised to displace human workers further, potentially enfeebling societies and economies over time.

In essence, the pursuit of AI advancement, cloaked in the guise of progress, may ultimately diminish the very fabric of human labor and ingenuity. It’s crucial we critically evaluate these developments and question who truly benefits from this rapid technological evolution.
