My Industry is going to be almost completely taken over in the next few years, for the first time in my life I have no idea what I’ll be doing 5 years from now

Navigating the Waves of Change in E-Commerce: A Reflection on the Future of My Industry

As a professional deeply entrenched in the e-commerce landscape, I find myself at a crossroads that many in my field may soon face. Having started my journey in this dynamic realm at the tender age of 14, my path has been shaped by an unwavering commitment and an array of challenging roles, from sales to my current position as Director of Partnerships at my agency.

My career has been enriched through various positions, including Director of Project Management and Director of Operations. Throughout these roles, I have been fortunate enough to contribute to numerous web development projects and expansive marketing campaigns, each with budgets ranging from $20,000 to over $1 million. My expertise extends to conversion rate optimization (CRO) strategy, user interface/user experience (UI/UX) planning, and innovative upselling methodologies.

AI is not just a tool but a game-changer, with capabilities emerging that allow for the creation of websites from mere sketches and the generation of code without the direct intervention of developers. Furthermore, the evolution of AI-driven search algorithms and prompt-based SEO is something that continues to reshape how we approach online visibility.

Faced with these changes, I find myself contemplating my future in an industry that is becoming increasingly automated. I am in the process of obtaining my Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, with thoughts of pivoting towards a role in project management within a different
