Enhance Your macOS Experience with the Gemini Overlay App

If you’re a macOS user who appreciates the functionality of Gemini 2.5 Pro—currently ranked #1 on lmarena.ai—you might have encountered some limitations. Specifically, the Progressive Web App (PWA) format lacks comprehensive keyboard shortcuts, which can hinder a smooth workflow. I found this to be a routine frustration, particularly when accessing chats across various platforms.

To streamline my experience, I took matters into my own hands and developed a dedicated Gemini Overlay app for macOS, building on the foundations set by the u/tchlux macos-grok-overlay project. This new application operates in a browser-based environment and introduces essential keyboard shortcuts, such as Option + Space to launch the app and Command + N to initiate a new chat.

With these enhancements, I’ve significantly improved my Gemini workflow, making it faster and more efficient.
