If I pause briefly—sometimes even for just half a second—the app prematurely stops recording and sends an incomplete message. In contrast, I’ve found that other applications, like ChatGPT, handle voice input much more effectively. With ChatGPT, once I activate the microphone, it continues to listen for as long as I speak, allowing for uninterrupted dictation. I only need to press the button again when I’m ready to submit my complete prompt. This smooth user experience emphasizes the limitations within Gemini’s current setup.

As it stands, the impracticality of the voice input feature restricts its use to very short phrases, which is unfortunate. I genuinely want to incorporate this functionality into my regular use of the app, but the interruptions transform what should be a seamless experience into a source of irritation.
