In this environment, the welfare state risks evolving into a form of techno-feudalism, where the needs of the general populace seem to take a backseat. Thus, one must ask: why would those in power invest in UBI for a population they may regard as increasingly dispensable?
While some argue that UBI could be implemented as a means of social control, the question arises—would this form of support genuinely enhance our quality of life? Many individuals are enthusiastic about the concept of UBI, dreaming of a future free from financial stress. However, if such a system were to be introduced merely to exert control, it is doubtful that the populace would view it as the positive solution many currently imagine.
It’s essential to approach the topic of UBI with a critical mindset, recognizing both the potential benefits and the underlying motives behind its implementation. As technology continues to transform our workforce, we must remain vigilant and discerning about the policies that may shape our economic future.
