Title: Experiencing Frustrations with Google Gemini: A User’s Perspective
As technology continues to advance and Artificial Intelligence becomes more integrated into our daily lives, expectations for these tools inevitably rise. I recently had the opportunity to interact with Google Gemini, and while my initial experience was promising, a pattern of frustration quickly emerged.
At first, Gemini seemed like a competent AI assistant, providing accurate responses to my inquiries. However, I soon encountered a curious problem. After successfully addressing my first question, the AI began to refuse further assistance, raising concerns about its overall utility.
As someone without a background in coding, I sought guidance on HTML tables. I had saved PDFs of several web pages containing free instructions on this topic and uploaded them to my Google Drive. According to Google, Gemini should be able to access and utilize files within my Drive. Initially, it performed remarkably well, offering useful insights based on the content I provided. However, when I attempted to follow up with related questions, the responses became increasingly baffling.
For instance, when I directly asked whether I had HTML files in my Drive, Gemini confirmed their existence, even providing clickable links to access them. Yet, when I requested assistance in reading from these files, the AI declined, offering a myriad of excuses that seemed to complicate the interaction rather than facilitate it. This inconsistent behavior left me feeling frustrated, especially since the AI had successfully utilized my content earlier.
In summary, while Gemini may exhibit moments of capability, my experience reveals a troubling tendency to retreat from complex or consecutive queries. Unfortunately, I find myself contemplating switching to a competing service that offers both paid options and a robust free model, which has been more reliable in meeting my needs.
Have any of you encountered similar frustrations with Google Gemini? It seems that despite its potential, many users are left feeling underwhelmed.
