Gemini is not functioning in the way that it’s intended to in Workspace apps

Gemini’s Shortcomings in Workspace Apps: A User’s Perspective

Recently, I had the opportunity to test out Google’s new personal assistant, Gemini, within the Workspace applications on my phone. However, my experience has raised some concerns regarding its effectiveness in performing even basic functions.

During my tests, I attempted to ask Gemini to locate specific emails in my inbox, utilizing precise subject lines. Unfortunately, it failed to deliver results, which is quite troubling considering these tasks are typically straightforward. I also created a document titled “Resume 2024” and saved it in Google Drive. Despite this straightforward request, Gemini struggled to find the document as well.

These experiences lead me to question the readiness of Gemini for mainstream use. If it consistently has difficulties executing fundamental tasks within the Workspace suite, can it truly be considered a viable alternative to the existing Google Assistant? The Google Assistant has long been praised for its capability and reliability, making Gemini’s performance all the more puzzling.

I’m curious if others have encountered similar issues with Gemini in their Workspace applications. Has anyone experienced any success, or are these shortcomings widespread?
